Envirolution is a community organisation that aims to create an engaging space for local people to present their achievements and innovative solutions to the environmental problems we face in society today.  They have organised this great event happening this Saturday (18th June 2011) we’d like to draw your attention to. The one day event will be highlighting techniques and processes we can use to improve our environment and how we work within it everyday. Envirolution are working alongside other organisation on the day to provide us with a fun and engaging space (Platt Fields Park, Manchester) to interact and look to future.

On the day there will be five areas to get involved with:

Hot Topics Zone: Cafe-style discussions about Greening Urban Spaces, Food, Green Economy, Health and Communities.

Interactive Zone: Child-friendly area for inspiring, learning and getting involved.

Entertainment Zone: An eclectic mix of Manchester has to offer; music, spoken word and dance.

Eco-Space: Energy generation, wood carving, campaigning, learning and much more.

Cycle Zone: Bike Week with cycle powered fun, plus a chance to win a £350 bike! (see more information on flyers below)

Envirolution are also hosting a Hot Topic Zone: Cafe Conversation (@Greening Urban Spaces) which will be a space to talk about environmental topics along with the people who are involved with the most representative projects in Manchester. This session will be guided by a facilitator and everyone is welcome to join, network, ask questions and give their own views. (Fair-trade and organic tea and coffee are provided by Green Bee Cafe)

We’d like to draw your attention to one speaker/organisation that caught our eye while at a lecture held at Manchester Met University recently. Vincent Walsh, Founder of the Biospheric Foundation will be joining the conversation from 3:15pm discussing his latest project Epoch6 Urban Research Laboratory based in Salford. Epoch 6 is an intense research space, seeking to enhance our lives by enabling social innovation, and whole thinking collaboration. The Epoch6 Lab bridge’s the gap between public engagement, commercial and the research sphere and looks to develop innovative ecological solutions to solve the problems of how to use functioning green spaces in urban environments. (for more details about Epoch 6 click here)
